Ayrshire Cancer Support

Nicola George

Last Thursday the Rotary Club of Prestwick were delighted to welcome their guest speaker, Nicola George of Ayrshire Cancer Support. Nicola was outlining Ayrshire’s leading cancer support charity’s hugely ambitious, much needed and inspirational new project to establish a fantastic and innovative Centre on Prestwick Road.
They have launched a ‘MAKE IT HAPPEN’ fundraising initiative to fund this custom built centre to extend the vital services they offer to local people living with, or affected by, cancer, including the region’s only dedicated complete support facility for children and young people.
The new build is costed at £1.6m with a fabulous £988,798 raised so far. They are enlisting support of the whole community to raise the £600,000 balance.

ABOUT THE CENTRE

Our new centre will comprise 11 areas allowing us to both meet the needs of our existing, growing services but also expand into much needed support and services for children and young people. The new centre will have age appropriate facilities for existing and younger service users with library and resources aimed to helping them through their journey.

Prestwick Rotary is delighted to make its own small contribution having nominated Ayrshire Cancer Support as one of the two beneficiaries of our forthcoming Golf AMAM Charity Event at Prestwick Golf Club.

Rotary Acting President Andy Mathieson said, “The members were both inspired and humbled to hear Nicola outline the plans behind this stunning service development on our own doorstep. We wish them every success.”
