Rotarian Adnan Soojeri gave an entertaining, and informative, talk to Prestwick Rotarians on his journey from Iran to Scotland. He had a childhood ambition to be a pilot, but modified this to become an aircraft engineer. After living in many areas of the UK, he settled in Prestwick in 2002, and set up his engineering business at Prestwick airport. He stressed the importance of regular maintenance checks to ensure the safety of aircraft, but it is a fact that most aircraft accidents are caused by human error.

Hence good communication at all levels is essential, especially between pilots and their support teams. Too much on board technology can make pilots less attentive than they should be, and any fault with an aircraft, however minor, must be fully reported.

Adnan is hardworking, knowledgeable, and yet very modest about his achievements. It was a pleasure to listen to him. Edith Sterrick offered a hearty vote of thanks for the talk, from such a well-respected, popular Prestwick Rotarian.
