2022 03 Kershaw Award at MRC

Gilbert Hannam Prize Giving

Rotarian Hazel Morley attended  the annual Gilbert Hannam Prize Giving Ceremony at Midhurst Rother College in order to present the Kershaw Prize for Music on behalf of the Midhurst and Petworth Rotary Club. It was a very special occasion where students were commended for their hard work and commitment in a full range of subjects.

The Kershaw award was the result of a legacy from Michael Kershaw, a former member of our club. Each year, music students could write an application explaining how they would use the £100 to further their musical experience and they were also given the beautiful trophy in the shape of a treble clef to keep for the year.

During the ceremony, this award was the first one to be presented, immediately after the Principal gave his speech and there was also a paragraph on the programme explaining the background of this award. The recipient was Lucy Hollyer who is a loyal member of the music team at the school and plays the cello and the piano.
