The speaker at the meeting of Kendal Rotary on 21st February was Dan Hinton the Headmaster of Sandgate School. He gave a presentation to keep the club updated on the situation at the school which has been very challenging during the pandemic.
They currently have 120 pupils and could easily double that number money permitting. To help combat the problem a new initiative is being promoted by providing an ‘outreach programme’ which it is hoped to eventually become a county wide scheme.
The funding of special needs provision is very limited and is a constant worry to the school.
