Steve Moatt, local sailmaker

Steve Moatt, a local sailmaker, gave us a talk on the Silk Road mountain bike race raising much needed funds for SEED Madagascar.

Steve has personally raised just over £14,000 for a £15,000 new school build project in the South of the island, who are suffering from the world's first recognised climate-induced famine. 

The race was over 1,000 miles, very remote and at high altitude and Steve told us how hard this was, plus the fact that he dislocated his shoulder at one of the highest points of the race. 

This was our first hybrid meeting which unfortunately didn't go as well as planned due to an unstable internet connection, but it was amazing to see the areas Steve travelled in and heard how wonderfully welcome the local people were, and how everything had to be carried on the bicycle.
