Club were treated to an excellent talk by Kasia Sikora-Black from Chiltern Music Therapy. This was a face to face lunch meeting at our usual venue, Chartridge Park Golf Club. Kasia holds the role of Clinical Delivery Lead at Chiltern and is a qualified Music Therapist.
Kasia explained that Chiltern Music Therapy is a not-for-profit organisation that provides music therapy, arts in health and community music services to people of all ages and many different needs across the UK. Formed in July 2011 as a direct need for Music Therapy provision within the local area, their services have grown to cover regions across the UK.
The Chiltern Music Therapy team has a thorough understanding of psychodynamic, medical, behavioural and person-centred approaches, meaning they are flexible in their approach and can meet the needs of each setting or client they work with.
The team contains a wealth of knowledge and experience in highly specialist areas covering the complete lifecycle from birth injuries and neonatal intensive care through to end of life care.
They currently have services available in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, Oxfordshire, London, Surrey, Hampshire, Sussex, Kent, Essex, Norfolk, Cambridgeshire, Northamptonshire, Herefordshire, Staffordshire, Warwickshire, Leicestershire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Yorkshire and, through our partnership with MusAbility, Liverpool, Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester, Lancashire and Merseyside.
