North Ayrshire Health & Social Care Partnership - 25/10/21
Press Report
Speaker on Monday at Irvine Seagate Rotary was Michael McLennan from the North Ayrshire Health and Social Care Partnership, talking about the work of the Partnership and developing plans for the future. At present they are consulting all sections of the community to get input from those most affected for changes and improvements. Ways to get involved in this can be found on their section of the North Ayrshire Council website. Michael answered numerous questions on the current state of the social care service, and a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Fiona Lee.
Monday was World Polio Day. Jim Anderson reported that so far this year there have only been 2 cases of wild polio virus reported, in Pakistan and Afghanistan. With increased cooperation from the Afghan authorities there is now a real opportunity to finally eliminate this disease. Rotary started the campaign to wipe out Polio in 1985, when there were over 1000 cases a day, and it developed into a major international effort which is now coming to fruition.
