Other ways in which we work with local schools

Aside from the major Rotary projects (Technology Tournament, Kids Out, Young Musician…) in which we involve local schools we also help them in lower profile ways. See below.

We traditionally present all Year 6 pupils at Bayside Academy (previously known as Turlin Moor School) with a dictionary to mark their impending transition to secondary education.

Also at Bayside we make an annual Volunteer of the Year award to a worthy helper chosen by the staff.  On one occasion the volunteer they chose turned out to be one of our own members who for many years had gone into school to provide one-to-one coaching to poor readers!

From time to time we also fund books and/or learning activities which the individual school would be hard-pressed to afford.
