Our leader remains Sammy The Tammy, the club mascot doing very much better than Dunfermline Athletic! Not only does he top the leaderboard he also made the largest gain of the week, £2796. Next best Douglas S gain of £2372 was enough to lift him into second place as only 16 of our entrants made gains on the week. Well done to Locin Trauts up into third with a gain on the week of £1970.
At the wrong end, a massive loss this week of £3617 by This time? and £1969 by Ross Grieve meant they dropped to last and second last.
The FTSE 100 started the week at 7051.48 and ended on 7,027.07, not a huge difference but quite big differences in some.
Fuel supply concerns did not deter support for BP and Royal Dutch Shell as crude continued its recent rally in value. The price of oil leapt to a new three-year high as the energy market also saw natural gas prices jump even further.
The rise in energy prices, along with associated supply chain problems, is feared to act as a deterrent to growth and will likely prompt a sharp slowdown.
On Thursday markets slipped back after better-than-expected economic growth figures renewed speculation that there could be an increase in interest rates. Supply and staffing issues continue to weigh on UK firms.
