The three clubs in Brighton & Hove - The Rotary Club of Brighton, The Rotary Club of Hove, and Brighton & Hove Soiree Rotary Club - will be active at Conference so please give them your support.
After reading the article ‘FOR THE LOVE OF BOOKS’ in the June-July 2021 Rotary Magazine (www.RotaryAlumni1210.co.uk) it was decided that it would be great to create a CHILDREN’S BOOK MOUNTAIN at Conference. Brighton & Hove Soiree Rotary Club work alongside two local Charities, Little Green Pig and Pelican Parcels, who assist families and schools in the local disadvantaged areas. These Charities will have a table at the Conference and will be ready to collect donations of second-hand children’s books which they will distribute as gifts to the local families.
So, if you are attending the conference please bring along some second-hand children’s books — please can you bring clean, good as new picture and story books for children aged 3-12 to donate to this project. These could be sourced from family members or your local Charity shops.
This will bring such joy and happiness to many children who, for the first time, will have a book of their own to read and to keep forever…..and if you’re a book person, you will love this project!

As many of you will be aware the need for food banks increased during the Pandemic and Fare Share Sussex feeds over 21,500 people each week so we are going to support them in their work by building a non-perishable food and toiletries mountain at Conference. We work alongside several local Charities and Food Banks, which receive food and toiletries from Fare Share. Fare Share will have a table at the Conference, and you can help to build the mountain. So, if you are attending the conference please bring along a contribution.
As part of the Rotary Environmental strategy, we thought it would be good to show our commitment as Rotarians to the health of our beaches, by doing a Big Beach Clean up after the main conference. If you would like to get involved, please gather outside of the main entrance to the hotel at 2pm on Sunday.
We will walk to where the council have their equipment (bags and grabbers) and unlock the shed. If you have your own grabbers do bring them along. Please wear your high viz Rotary vests if you have them. Depending on numbers we will spread out across the beach to gather any excess plastic and other rubbish. Once your bag is full you can put it in the large bins provided all along the beach.
