Prestwick Rotarians Help Prestwick Bloom

Prestwick Main Street is a riot of flower colour just now, thanks to over 40 tubs planted, and watered by Prestwick Rotarians supported by local business owners. In co-operation with Prestwick Business Association, Rotarians have taken over looking after, and planting up tubs. Most of the plants have been sourced from Hansel Village, so supporting local trade. The objective is to continue to promote Prestwick as a wonderful, attractive, lively shopping town. Get out locally, and shop locally is the message.
Keeping tubs watered in the hot, dry weather is a lot of work. Rotarians are grateful for all the support given by business owners in Main Street. No – it is not South Ayrshire Council workers who are planting and watering the tubs – it is Prestwick Rotarians!

Prestwick Rotary President Stephen Cooper is shown, with Rotarian Edith Sterrick, tending a tub outside The Post Office and Daisy Chain in Prestwick Main Street. Stephen is well-known, and respected, throughout the town as Post Office manager. If anyone is interested in joining, or supporting Rotary, then Stephen is a good point of initial contact. Edith has just been elected as an assistant governor of the local Rotary District 1230. Well done Edith. It is fully deserved for all the hard work you do on behalf of Rotary.

Prestwick Station is another area where flowers are being installed, nurtured and watered. The Station premises are looking magnificent thanks mainly to the dedication of Rotarian Lorraine McEvoy, and her support team. In addition to plants and tubs, there are now bee, moth and butterfly houses, with plans to create a wildflower garden. First impressions are important, and we want visitors to get an immediate ‘wow factor’ when visiting Prestwick.
