Shropshire walking trip - June 2021

A walking trip and holiday, originally planned for June 2020 ...

Club Holiday To Church Stretton - 2021

In mid-June this year, eight club members and their partners enjoyed a walking holiday in Church Stretton, Shropshire.

The surrounding rolling countryside is rightly known as "Little Switzerland" with lovely views in all directions. The nearby great moorland ridge of the Long Mynd was visited by our party ... see photos.

The journey there using the M25 on the last day of the school half-term was a slow and frustrating business, but the return journey for most of us, was much quicker. The only exception was one member who got caught in the aftermath of first a car fire and then a lorry breakdown and only reached home some 10 hours after leaving the hotel!

Of course, some aspects of our stay were affected by Covid regulations and the hotel staff were stretched to their limit, but the weather was good, the countryside was beautiful and there were many interesting places nearby to visit.

With the added and magic ingredient of club comradeship, a good time was had by all.

Booking for the holiday next year at Freshwater Bay on the Isle of Wight, has already started.
