ShelterBox

We had a good speaker in Hugh Deed updating us on ShelterBox.
Shelter box was started 20 years ago by Helston Lizard Millennium Project.
The contents are constantly being updated according to the needs of the areas that require assistance for example Shelterkit will include tools like spades and nails, hammer, tarpaulins etc so people are able to build their own shelters or protect their properties that may have been damaged by a disaster.
Also during Covid, PPE has been supplied alongside hand washing bowls and soap for hygiene and has assisted 36,000 families to date.
There are centres around the world now, where displaced families are able to choose the items they need and fill a box, thereby making Shelterbox more eco-friendly as no boxes are shipped from the UK anymore.
