The Bluebells were out in force as was The Rotary Club of Eastbourne AM! The Club was one of the chosen charities to run a weekend at The Arlington Bluebell Walk, Arlington, East Sussex on the 18th & 19th April.
The walk is held in Beatons Wood which is a 24 acre woodland consisting of oak trees. During the spring there is a magical display of wildflowers including white anemones and, of course, a carpet of bluebells. The walk is gravelled for wheelchairs with facilities including a large café manned by Eastbourne AM also offering hot and cold food supplied by members and friends.
With the sun shining, Eastbourne AM hosted around 3,500 people, expecting to raise in excess of £10,000.
John McCutcheon who, together with Alison Bettles, runs the Bluebell Walk said ‘The friendly way you greeted our visitors, sorted out the scooters, ensured the car parking worked, then offered them delicious food served so efficiently that queuing was minimised in spite of the volume of visitors was commendable, so please thank all those involved.’
Sam Hookway, Community Chair of Eastbourne AM, said that she was ‘super proud’ of everyone and that this is a fine example of what Rotary achieves when it works together!
