Llandudno Rotary has lost its most senior Member, by both age and length of Rotary service. David Thomas, who would have been 88 in May died on 21st March, after a short illness

An accountant by profession, David was a Member of Tenbury Round Table in the 1970’s , joined Ludlow Rotary in 1985, transferred to Conwy Rotary in the 1990’s and finally transferred to Llandudno Rotary in 2011. David hailed from the Black Country originally and attended Walsall Grammar. His first foray into Wales was his stint of National Service where he served at Kinmel Camp, in the Education Corps

For some time David and his wife Dianne ran the Tir Y Coed Hotel in Rowen and David was also accountant to Thornley Caravan Parks

As well as Dianne, his wife of 56 years, David leaves children Richard, the late Philip, the late Sara and Ceri, and grandchildren Alex and Jake

Rotary President Rosalind Hopewell said “We all had great love and affection for David; his twinkle, mischievous chuckle and anecdotes have each been huge and welcome ingredients of our Rotary fellowship”

The funeral is scheduled for Wednesday 7th April 2021 at 2pm at Mochdre Crematorium - no flowers by request but donations to either of RNLI Conwy or RNLI Rhyl would be welcomed
