Tristan Owen – Man about town!
At their latest meeting (on Zoom) on Tuesday 16th March, 13 Members were delighted to hear from prospective Member Tristan Owen about his life and adventures.
After being brought up in Llandudno and attending Bodafon Primary School and St Gerard’s Secondary School in Bangor, Tristan graduated from Leeds University with a degree in Automotive Engineering and embarked on a career with Renold as a Project Manager. Over the space of 8 years this took him to 11 countries, including many visits to Hangzhou in China and Gudalur in India.
The work was hard and the hours long, but the experience of being in the midst of such a variety of cultures has implanted a lifelong desire to be immersed in humanity at all levels and of all cultures.
And then Hiraeth called…
Eight months ago, Tris returned to his hometown and became the fourth generation to manage the family business of Tom Owen and Son, Funeral Directors. Tris’s new focus is on building on the work of, successively, Great Granddad Tom, Granddad Peter and Dad Scott to safely deliver the family business to its 2030 centenary in better shape than ever.
Tris, and partner Kelly, who is also a funeral director with the firm, are currently house-hunting in the town and look forward, along with their daughter, Sophie, to playing their full part in the community and social aspects of the town.
All this currently leaves little time for Tris’s other loves – chess (OK) and golf (bad!) but who knows what lies ahead?
