2021 15 March Talk by Richard Nicholls

Richard Nicholls of Sussex Search and Rescue (SusSAR)

Monday 15 March 2021 over Zoom

Richard Nicholls re- Sussex Seach and Rescue (SusSAP)

Richard has been a member of SusSAR for 12 years having joined the team after moving to the Petworth area from South West London a year or two before.  A registered charity, Sussex Search and Rescue is an all-volunteer organisation called on by Sussex Police and others to search for and rescue vulnerable missing people in Sussex and surrounding counties. Their operational members are trained to national professional standards and have remained on call 24/7 throughout the pandemic.  They have also supported the Sussex-wide pandemic response, delivering PPE and school laptops and, more recently, by providing marshals at vaccination centres.

Richard’s presentation  described the work of SusSAR and how its members are trained and organised, illustrating this by following the sequence of events for a typical missing person callout.
