Week_Four_Results.pdf
Yet another rollercoaster week on the FTSE 100 with the index closing at 6483, its lowest closing point since we started on 1st February (6407).

Friday saw the FTSE 100’s biggest one-day fall in percentage terms since the end of October and 78 of the shares lost value during the week.  Anxiety over the jump in government bond yields knocked every sector of the Footsie lower.  Boris Johnston raised hopes of international travel and so we found the biggest gains this week made by hitherto unpopular shares - International Consolidated Airlines (+15.8%), Rolls Royce (+9.2%), Informa (+8.2%), Land Securities (+8.0%) and BP (+7.1%).

Mining companies, Anglo American and Glencore were among the fallers while Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust, which holds stakes in technology firms such as Tesla and Amazon, lost 15.9% on the week. Other major casualties this week were Ocado (-14.0%) and Rightmove (-11.5%).

Our placings are based on gains and losses since 1st February.

Best performers since then are:-

International Consolidated Airlines (+34.2%)

Nat West Group (+24.8%)

Antofagasta Holdings (+24.7%)

Whitbread (+21.8%)

Prudential (+20.1%)

Poorest performers since 1st February are:-

Ocado Group (-20.8%)

Just Eat (-17.4%)

GlaxoSmithKline (-12.2%)

Unilever (-12.0%)

Hargreaves Lansdown (-11.6%)

With the most popular investment being with AstraZeneca, those selecting them will be disappointed with the 7.3% drop, making them just the 85th best performer since 1st February while 52 of the 100 show gains.

So it continues to be a very tough competition for our entrants. Only five entrants made gains in week 4 and only 29 are currently up on their starting values.

Movers of the week were - Brogue Trader up 59 places, Liz P up 41 and Lewis Grieve up 34. Losers of the week were Too Bad down 46 places, Douglas S down 43 and both Alastair Durkie and Chris Dowse down 31 places.

We have a new leader with Michael Riddell (+£5132) taking over at the top from Ogg of Echt (+£3538) who drops to fourth. Gavin Riddell (+£4783) moves into second and ScotMac9 into third (+£3635).

At the wrong end a 10.8% loss on the week places Nil Pettigrew last (-£6918), Calum Todd second last (-£6594), Sammy’s Granny (-£6130) and Neil Spriddle (-£5771).
