‘A Potted History of the Club taken from Club Council Minutes' - By Keith Griffin’

Here's a few snippets:

  • A three course meal with wine and coffee was about £3.50 in 1975’.
  • ‘It was an all male organisation and members were required to represent a trade or profession’.
  • In 1997 the club finally inducted their first female member Brenda Sedgwick (Brenda’s late husband, Des had been club President in 1981-82).
  • 1977 launch of the Jubilee Lake Project.
  • The link with the Kalundborg RC in Denmark began in 1977 and we last hosted them in 2017.
  • “Lots has changed”  “The changes must have been for the better as we now have more members than ever, mostly all very active and we uphold the Rotary motto of 'Service before Self' - Can’t be too bad”.
