Centenary Bursary for design post graduates

A significant part of the Rotary Club of Dundee’s centenary celebrations is its £25,000 funding of a bursary for design students from Scotland at University of Dundee. 

Over each of the next five years, a grant of £5000 will be awarded to a student for a one-year post graduate degree in design at Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design. 

The Rotary Club of Dundee Centenary Bursary will support the successful student’s tuition fees or living costs on their Master of Science or Master of Design course. 

 The first post graduate student is in place and is due to qualify in August 2021 .

 Jeanette Paul, Emeritus Professor of Art and Design at Duncan of Jordanstone College, said: “This Bursary funded by Rotary Club Dundee will make an enormous difference to students who wish to gain further academic experience to prepare them for careers in a highly challenging marketplace, enabling them to contribute to innovative solutions to local and global challenges.  

 “Duncan of Jordanstone College of Art & Design at University of Dundee is highly appreciative of the generosity of the Rotary Club of Dundee in offering this annual Bursary.”  

The bursary is set to further strengthen Dundee’s status as a centre for excellence in the study of design, building on the momentum developed with the opening of the V&A Museum in 2018. 

It also addresses a need in being aimed at students from Scotland. 

While international students often receive grants from their own governments to undertake postgraduate study in the UK, Scottish students often have to turn down opportunities to study at post-graduate level because they are unable to access financial support.
