Members of the Rotary Club of Guernsey and ladies from Inner Wheel again supported the annual Autism Guernsey Winter Wonderland on the 7th of December. As usual, children touched by autism, along with their families and siblings, had the opportunity of enjoying the spectacular festive display in the gardens of Peter and Frankie Bachmann, in a calm and peaceful ambiance.
Inner wheel provided food and hot drinks and this year these were served in a marquee with seating available, The Hope Choir sang Christmas carols, which added to the festive spirit.
Rotarians acted as stewards, ensuring that the guests arrived safely from the car park at Bruce Russels and our esteemed President, resplendent in his Christmas outfit, was on duty guarding the large pond in the garden whilst providing lots of good cheer to people as they passed by. Throughout the evening there was a queue to visit Santa in his grotto and our very own Paul Watts was kept very busy giving out presents to the children.
It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening made all worthwhile by the expressions of pure delight on the faces of the children.
Autism Guernsey is hugely grateful to Peter and
Frankie Bachmann and to the Rotarians and Inner Wheel members who
turned up in the cold to support the event.
