Young Carers in Conwy

On Tuesday, 6th October, fifteen members of Llandudno Rotary plus one visitor were delighted to host a talk by Jo Chapman about her work as an outreach worker for WCD Young Carers. “WCD” stands for Wrexham, Conwy and Denbighshire, but Jo chose to concentrate on her work in Conwy

Jo, who has worked for WCD Young Carers for  23 years, outlined the various ways in which the organisation reaches out to support an invisible army of young people who have found themselves in a caring role within their family. Alternatively those needing the help  may be  siblings of those needing the care and whose own needs can often overlooked by a harrassed family who are needing to focus on the needs of another member of the family.

The help ranges through counselling, through practical hands-on help and support, organising events where carers and their siblings can meet others

Help is at the end of a phone ( 01597 823 800)

Earlier in the year Llandudno Rotary had made a donation towards the work of the charity and Members agreed that post-COVID there might be a role for Rotary to take in this work
