A Publicist’s Anecdotes

Club welcomed Howard Elson to a virtual meeting, back by popular demand having heard some of his reminiscences at a previous meeting.

Howard has been an independent publicist for many years providing press, publicity and marketing within the entertainment and theatre industry. Having attended school locally and living in Chesham now he is known for his active involvement in local amateur dramatics and scriptwriting for schools’ stage performances.

He disabused the notion that “Even Bad Publicity is Good Publicity” and recounted instances where promotions had created havoc.

Whilst cautioning that understandable client confidentiality would prevent him from regaling Club with juicy stories he did recount experiences with clients whom he held in high regard.

Having represented Roger Whittaker for several years on a Global basis he described frightening moments whilst travelling and separately, amusing occasions with The Harlem Globetrotters and The Jack Daniels American Company.

Having worked with Roger Moore, of Bond fame, Howard testified to instances where he saw the actor’s charming character and pleasant humour handling situations with warmth and gentle humour.
