FTSE 100 Week Two Results

Week 2 of the FTSE 100 competition has seen some spectacular movements within the leaders’ table both upwards and downwards

Week 2 of the FTSE 100 competition has seen some spectacular movements within the leaders’ table both upwards and downwards although the top 13 entrants are roughly the same entrants as in week 1.

Sammy’s Granny has strengthened her lead, her portfolio has witnessed a gain of £3,797 - the best performance of the week.  

Stewart Morgan, Pigman’s Dad and Hansen Low remain the closest challengers.  Betha Thomson has jumped 90 places up the leader board with Keith Davison, Dougal the Cockapoo, George Primrose, Cyril U James, Nick Dougan and Jennifer Templeton moving up more than 40 places.

This week 42 of the 100 companies gained in value and the ten best performing shares were Persimmon plc (+16.6%), Barratt Developments plc. (+10.9%), Fresnillo (+9.9%), Antofagasta Holdings (+6.7%, Scottish Mortgage Investment Trust (+6.7%), Berkeley Group Holdings plc (+6.4%), Evraz plc (+5.9%), Taylor Wimpey plc (+5.8%), Anglo American (+4.9%) and , Croda International plc (+3.8%).

Popular holdings AstraZeneca only rose 0.5%, GlaxoSmithKline fell 3.1% but Diageo helped a good few of our participants with a rise of 2.7%.

Poorest performers this week, down between 5 and 7%, were Burberry Group plc, BP Plc, National Grid, Imperial Brands Group, British American Tobacco plc, WPP plc, Ashtead Group plc, ITV plc, International Consolidated Airlines Group SA, and Smith (DS).

The eight leading contenders for the wooden spoon also remain the same entrants.
