Sponsored Walk for Seafarer Charity 11 July 2020

"Well Done" to one of our Rotarians DIckie Welsh, who with Lee Clarke, John Garland & Rory O'Connor completed the challenge of walking from Laxey to Ramsey via the top of Snaefell and to date has raised almost £1,700 for The King Georges Fund

Fund-raising is for King Georges Fund for Sailors (Seafarers UK) to help out seafarers who are suffering in this current global Covid crisis.

Over 400,000 seafarers are overdue in their tour of duty on board and cannot travel home, some have not seen their families for over 12 months now. Others, remain at home, unable to join their ship and earn money to provide for their families. Seafarers continue to provide the vital service which provides supplies, raw materials and finished goods all over the world (95% world trade).

This money will provide funds for the charitable work which goes on to visits ships to provide a valuable lifeline for those stuck on board ships and unable to go ashore due to Covid restrictions. It will also provide valuable funds to support those families at home and help with mental welfare programmes for seafarers.

We have started a fundraising page and would love to reach our / exceed our goal of £1000. Please share with friends below link and donate.
