Members have continued to donate to our charity fund so we are able to financially help the local charities and groups that we cannot physically help because of social distancing rules.
At our last meeting it was decided that we would donate £1000 each to the following three groups this month.
We will continue to look for ways in which Rushen & Western Mann Rotary club can help.
John Lindon, President of the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann commented:
it is wonderful to be able to support the good work of such worthy charities in this difficult period and all thanks to generous donations from our Rotary Club members.
*** Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man - £1000
Amanda Cafearo The Chief Executive Officer sent an email with the following: -
Thank you for supporting the work of Cruse Bereavement Care Isle of Man. We rely on grants and donations to fund our important work. Your generous donation will help us continue to help children, young people and adults struggling with their grief.
*** Southern Befrienders - £1000
Val Haslam The Scheme Manager stated: -
“Southern Befrienders supports older, socially isolated people in the south of the island. Our trained and vetted volunteer befrienders provide one-to-one companionship and help with weekly social events to alleviate loneliness and isolation.
During the COVID-19 outbreak we have adapted our service to ensure that our service users (members) continue to receive telephone befriending and that the most vulnerable receive extra support. We have extended our service to anyone in our community who needs help – whether shopping, collecting medication or regular phone calls. The lockdown is impacting our capacity to fundraise, so this donation is both timely and very much appreciated. It will ensure that we continue to support socially isolated people long after everyone else has been reunited with loved ones.”
*** Graih - £1000
Michael Manning commented:-
“Graih are extremely grateful for the support of the Rushen and Western Mann Rotary Club. This money allows us to continue to operate our emergency night shelter, which has stayed open to welcome homeless people throughout the pandemic and ensure that those on the margins are given a warm and practical welcome.”
back Every year through the Rotary Club of Rushen & Western Mann Charitable Trust, the Club makes donations to a number of international, UK and local good causes following fundraising activities which take place throughout the Year.
