South Ayrshire FoodBank
Prestwick Rotary presented a cheque for £400 and a Crisis Heros certificate to South Ayrshire FoodBank at New Life Church in Prestwick today. We also donated bags of food and a second cheque for £100. They were delighted and the demands of the FoodBank continue to rise. The FoodBank is a lifeline for people in our community and provides three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to them in crisis. They are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.
People are referred by the Council to the FoodBank who give out 1, 2, 3 and 4 person packs including food, nappies, dog food and cleaning products. They also have a supply of fresh fruit, veg and clothes and Asda gift vouchers. Nobody is turned away.
The FoodBank relies on the support of the local community for food donations, volunteering and finances. A well done from Prestwick Rotary for all the good work South Ayrshire FoodBank does in our community.
