Rotary Connects the World!

When Rotary International President Mark Maloney chose “Rotary Connects the World” as the theme for his Rotary year, in early 2019, even he can have had no idea of how this concept would be tested – and how it would triumph - in a world currently ravaged by the Covid-19 virus

Throughout the world Rotary Clubs have currently had to suspend their weekly meetings, and associated Conventions and Assemblies at District, National and International level

And yet “the show goes on!”

Meetings have now resumed, but in the new “virtual” format, using remote conferencing software, often “Zoom”

This new approach actually opens up fresh possibilities. Llandudno Rotary has strong links with the Rotary Club of Sea Point, in South Africa – both Clubs have come together, in partnership with Rotary Clubs in Europe, to help fund a pre-school project in Cape Town, South Africa

Now, when Sea Point Rotary hold their weekly meeting, they invite members of Rotary Club of Llandudno to join them

This week Llandudno Rotarians Ashok Harshey and Ian and Margaret Trevette were delighted to join the Sea Point meeting  in discussions about Emergency Disaster Relief in Cape Town with a focus on vulnerable people .and also on the need for new fundraising efforts to start the re-building of communities after the pandemic
