Irvine Seagate Rotary had a relaxed evening on Monday. In the business section it was noted that eight teams have confirmed that they will take part in the Rotary Primary Schools Quiz on Friday 27 March. The rest of the evening was devoted to dominoes and carpet putting. In the dominoes there were some disputes about rules and procedures, and in a tight final Allan Morrison beat Jim Anderson.
To make the putting less familiar to modern golfers, the putter was a hickory shafted blade from early last century, and the balls were Dunlop 65s, no longer approved by the Rules of Golf. Again in a tiebreak, Allan Morrison this time beat Billy Dickson, thus taking the prizes and honours for both events. Next week it will be back to business as usual.
