Last week Irvine Seagate Rotary organised the erection of the Christmas trees in the entrance to the Portal, and over the weekend they were all decorated by various local sponsors, schools and charities. The display was officially opened by Provost Clarkson on Sunday afternoon, and will continue for the whole of December. Main beneficiaries of the fundraising will be Irvine and Troon Cancer Care, and Chernobyl Children’s Lifeline Ayrshire.
Monday’s meeting of Seagate took the form of a festive quiz organised by Andy Slater. This was a light hearted way to begin the run up to Christmas, and exposed a surprising amount of ignorance about the popular songs and traditions surrounding the festival. Winners were Alex McConnell and Allan Morrison. Next week will be a business meeting.
