A Christmas message of hope

Rotary guest speaker Ian Jamieson used a white candle to symbolise hope in his Christmas message to Prestwick Rotarians. Ian has been a lay preacher for The Church of Scotland for 42 years, and he brought all that experience to bear in his short presentation, centred around the traditional Christmas advent wreath, as shown.

The wreath represents life as a circle, with different coloured candles representing different aspects of life. For example purple is the colour of mourning, whilst blue is the colour of The Virgin Mary. Ian's talk was entertaining and educational, and we rounded things off with a full community singsong, of a new version of The Twelve Days of Christmas.

Mike Kelly offered a highly-deserved vote of thanks, for a very new slant on our annual Christmas message.
