Following donations made to Community Action Dacorum, some of the club members visited their offices to see our Rotary sponsored mini bus. CAD Community Wheels hires minibuses to groups and organisations such as elderly or disabled groups, youth groups or sport clubs, who are Community Action Dacorum members. It has now been spotted on a number of occasions driving around enabling people to live independently, socialise with others and fulfill everyday life activities.
For World Polio Day (24th October) we were asked to shine a purple light. Thinking that this would not mean much to anyone other than fellow Rotarians and having investigated the cost of purple light bulbs I got my Blue Peter hat on. With some purple tissue paper, some cutting out and a bottle of glue I created some translucent purple displays that looked good during the day and could be back lit for the evening. Sold at £2.50 each it raised £45.00 for Polio Plus.
