Family History Talk

Prestwick rotarians enjoyed a great illustrated talk on family history, professionally delivered by Kilmarnock rotarian George English. George offers a family history service, on three levels - gold, silver or bronze, depending on the extent to which individuals, or families, wish to research their ancestry. There are many ways of tracing ancestry, especially now in the digital age, and the task often involves a lot of innovative and diverse detective work, through for example, church records, shipping lists, school directories, newspapers, and court records.

The population of Prestwick and Monkton was 582 people in 1755. this went up to 986 in 1801. The present population of the Prestwick locality, which includes Monkton, is now 22,000 people .Imagine the diverse, well-travelled, backgrounds of all these residents.

Gurdish Singh Uppal offered a well-deserved vote of thanks. He is pictured right with George English centre, and Nigel Lawrie left.

George English can be contacted on email, through george@researchthroughpeople.com.
