On Saturday, Seagate Rotary had a stall in the Skinners Craft indoor car boot sale, raising funds for the club’s charity account. At the end of the day surplus items were donated to a local charity shop.
Seagate’s speaker on Monday was Iain Shaw, Rotary District Youth Service chair, talking about the many national youth competitions available through Rotary. These include Youthspeaks, a public speaking competition, and the Primary Schools Quiz, both of which are team activities. There are also individual competitions open to different age groups from primary and secondary schools, including Young Chef, Photographer, Musician, Writer, Artist, Filmmaker and Environmentalist. All of these allow talented individuals to compete at a local level and potentially go forward to Scottish and UK finals. Details of these can be obtained through the Irvine Seagate Rotary website.
Iain answered questions on various aspects of his presentation, and a Vote of Thanks was proposed by Andy Slater.
