The Red Arrows [1980-1990]

Guest speaker Paul Fitzgerald gave an illustrated talk to Prestwick Rotarians on The Red Arrows [1980-1990]. Paul is communications manager for The Red Arrows Association.

He showed films of the early Red Arrows flying Folland Gnats. These were very fast planes capable of nearly 700 mph, but were limited in range. They were replaced by Harrier Hawks, slightly slower because of increased size, but with a much greater range.

Paul also described the move of The Red Arrows to their home base in Scampton, Lincolnshire. Chairman Stephen Cooper thanked Paul for an informative, well-researched talk. Shown are Bill Leslie, Paul Fitzgerald and Stephen Cooper.
