This is the 3rd high value, high impact water & sanitation project undertaken by Walsall Saddlers in India. The total value of the project was 70589USD and was funded entitrely by the Rotary Foundation and involved four clubs, Walsall Saddlers in England and the clubs of Gauhati South, Malda and Kalimpong in India.The project forms part of a wider project known as W.A.S.H (WAter, Sanitation and Hygiene) and involved providing hand washing facilities and filtering systems to 58 schools in the regions of West Bengal, Sikkim, Assam, Nagaland, Meghalaya in North East India.
In addition the project included education to improve awareness of the importance of hand washing and hygiene as part of daily life.
