Funded by the Rotary Foundation to the sum of 50,626USD, this high value , high impact project provided community toilets for the village of Banshia, near Durgapur, West Bengal, India. Opened on the 4th November 2018 the project was co-ordinated by the Rotary Clubs of Walsall Saddlers in England and Durgapur Central in India. This included the construction of 5 toilet blocks in the village each with 10 toilets. In addition 2 wash buildings, with boys and girls toilets and bore hole fresh water well were provide to 6 village schools Providing sanitation to a whole community is key to reducing disease and infant mortality. The well being of everyone in the village increases economic activity and helps to sustain the project.
