Rotarians Adrian Miller and John Palmer attended the Blagdon Primary School Year 6 leaving assembly on 19th July to present the Year 6 pupils with the illustrated dictionaries. This is part of the annual community and vocational programme of dictionary distribution to around 9 Primary schools in the area.
The Assembly was a great celebration of the pupils’ time at the Primary school with the whole school and parents attending. Adrian gave a short talk on Rotary and our Clubs’ activities before presenting each student with a personalised dictionary.
The Dictionary4Life is produced by Usborne and contains over 10,000 entries and 1,000 illustrations. As well as the illustrated dictionary section, it has a user’s guide, a section on parts of speech and a section of hints and guidelines on writing in English. The dictionary is a result of the Rotary International’s priority to help improve standards of literacy throughout the world. The dictionary enables children to develop and widen their vocabulary in a lively and interesting way.
We shall return to Blagdon in September to present dictionaries to Years 3 and 4 for use during their time at the school.
If you would like your Primary School included, please contact us through the Chelwood Bridge Rotary website and we will try and include you later this year or in the near future.
