The Billericay Youth Town Council held its final meeting of the year on July 16 and Immediate Past President Les was there to attend the meeting.
Why? Because he was able to present them with a donation of £250 from Soapbox Derby funds in recognition of their good work, and their whole hearted assistance acting as track marshals on derby day.
Les reminded them how much our club relied on the support of many organisations around the town to be able to run the Soapbox Derby and thanked those Youth Town Council members who had turned out for their support. He also told them something about the history of Rotary’s ‘End Polio Now’ campaign which was one of the four major beneficiaries of Soapbox Derby funds.
The Youth Town Council members agreed that they would like to put the donation towards the cost of their project to renovate the skateboard park at Lake Meadows.
back Rotary's programs for students and youth can change the lives of those who participate by earning scholarships, travelling on cultural exchanges, or helping a community.
