Baldock Rotary Welcomes New President

Thirty six Rotary members wives and partners attended a hand-over dinner at Letchworth Golf Club where outgoing President, Keith Britter handed over the reigns to incoming President Prue Dixon.

After an excellent meal accompanied with wine the formal preceedings began with the reading of the objects of Rotary, followed by toasts to Past Presidents and Guests and the award of a Paul Harris fellowship award, which is Rotary’s award for service within the club and community, which surprisingly went to myself!!!!  I feel very honoured to have received this award.

President Keith Britter in his handover speech reviewed activities undertaken over the last twelve months which included the club’s 65th Charter Dinner, the long standing tradition of supporting the town’s Christmas lights and the exchange visit to Toftlund, which was featured in an article in the July edition of On Our Doorstep.  He went on to say that on the fundraising front the Christmas sleigh street collection, Open Gardens and the Jazz Concert had all gone extremely well and had contributed significantly to the funds available from which charitable donations are made.

Donations this year have been made to the Lister Hospital fibroscanner, Lend With Care, in conjunction with the Knights Templar Interact group, Shelter Box and Student Expeditions.

President Keith then handed the Presidential regalia over to new President Prue who outlined her hopes and vision for the club in the coming year by saying that we will continue to do the things we do well and we will introduce new ventures and activities to improve the appeal of the club in an effort to attract new members, which remains on of our biggest challenges.
