Rotary visit to RAF Valley

On 21st June 15 Rotarians and guests, including 3 former pilots, visited RAF Valley and were shown round by Squadron Leader Nick Jewsbury. The occasion was a follow-up to a talk that Nick had given to the Club earlier in the year on the work at the Base of  training the RAF jet pilots of the future

The occasion was also an opportunity for President Rosalind Hopewell to formally present to the Base two signed prints of Spitfires in action, for display in the Officers’ Mess, along with a further print presented to Nick Jewsbury personally. President Rosalind also presented a cheque for £100 for the RAF Benevolent Fund – a gift that had been funded by the sale of further prints

All the prints in question had been donated by Ann Ewington and David Bull who operated a hotel in Llandudno until earlier this year when they retired to Eire; sadly they were not able to be present

Rotary’s thanks also go to Rtn Mike Perry for organising the receipt and sale of the prints and for organising this visit to the RAF base
