June Boot, Craft and Produce Fair

The Saturday before the fair was warm and sunny and so when the morning of Sunday 2nd June also dawned sunny seventy-six stall holders were tempted to ply their wares at the June Boot, Craft and Produce Fair.

The day was not so warm as the Saturday, but nevertheless with no wind to note, the day was ideal for the fair, and a good‑sized crowd ventured to the West Martello fields to search for a possible bargain.  Many were seen later making their way to the overflowing car park with arms full of purchases.
There were stalls selling items commonly expected to be found at a boot fair, clothes, children’s toys, plants, books, crockery, collectables and pictures but there were several items that one would not expect to be seen on a June Sunday morning in Seaford.  The Rotary stall attracted a continuous flow of potential purchasers.
These included a Christmas wreath albeit that December 25th is more than six months away, and a back to school pack – even though the school summer holidays had not yet started.  Other more unusual items seen included a carpet, a car wheel clamp, a mandolin complete with case – it needed some serious tuning, a steam wallpaper stripper and a Victorian vanity set.
The refreshment and ice cream vans were popular with a steady stream of customers.
The fair resulted in our best result for 2019 to date with over £900 raised which will be put to good use for local charitable causes.
