Monday was Seagate Rotary’s Annual General Meeting. President Andy Slater outlined many of the events of the past year, noting that the club had been active on many fronts. These included charity fundraising, fellowship activities and community service.
Seagate had supported many local and national causes including Marie Curie, SANDS, Poppy Scotland, Chernobyl Children and Barnardos toys at Christmas. The club sponsored the Senior Citizens concert at Marymass, and organised the local heats of the Primary Schools Quiz.
The Christmas trees in the Portal had drawn in considerable community involvement as well as raising charitable funds. Various committee conveners were elected, including Jim Anderson as the Rotary Foundation Charity organiser and Eric Greig in charge of projects. In the monthly charity draw, Sandy Niven went home with a bottle of Malt. Next week’s meeting will take the form of a Pool competition with the members of the Skinners Incorporated Trade.
