This event organised by the Rotary Club of Langley & Iver took place on the night of 10th/11th March. It was a ten mile night orienteering course that was entirely off-road through the countryside. Two members of our club, David Shaw - the club's President - and Richard Andrews, together with the non-Rotarians Lionel Morbey and Mike O'Dell.
Weather was mercifully fine: a clear and starlit night out in the open, but pitch black when they entered woods. It was really good fun and this time all team members took it in turns to act as leader. They used head torches to see where they were going - map and compass were essential. The route formed a figure of eight centred on Coombe Hill and was all off-road. Quite a challenge – not physically, but concentration and teamwork was required.
For this event the Rotary Club of Thame have raised £200. All funds raised will go to local Thames Valley charities and to the Institute of Cancer Research.
