Euroscolar Samuel Buchanan Trip 2019

For a number of years now The Rotary Club of Prestwick has been funding a senior languages pupil at Prestwick Academy to attend The European Parliament in Strasbourg, under The Euroscola Programme.

Every year 600 students from 28 member states take over The Plenary Chamber for a day in Strasbourg to debate issues. This includes 24 pupils from Scottish schools, chosen by Rotary competition. The programme is designed to build confidence, improve language skills and political knowledge of Europe.

At a recent meeting, Principal teacher of languages Julie Bartholome updated Rotarians on the solid progress being made at Prestwick Academy. Euroscola Samuel Buchanan spoke about his wonderful experience visiting Strasbourg, and the new friendships he made. The visit has enabled him to see the UK from a European perspective, and has reinforced his desire to study languages when he moves on to further education. He thanked The Rotary Club of Prestwick for giving him the opportunity to attend Euroscola.
