An exhibition of the Annual Art Competion run by Oswestry Rotary Club for Year 5 and 6 pupils from local primary schools opened at The Qube, Oswestry on Monday 17th and will run until the 30th June.
Organiser Stuart Phillips said: “This year has seen a record participation of 11 schools ensuring a very large turnout at the awards presentation and opening today.”
This year's theme is " A View of the Castle" and whilst around 30 pupils were commended for their work the prizes were awarded as follows:
2 Dimensional Artwork
First Ella McInnes, Moreton Hall
Second Sammy Grayston, Our Lady and St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School
Third Lily Ross, Woodside Primary School
3 Dimensional Artwork
First Charley May Jones, Llansillin Primary School
Second Isabelle Cartwright, Kinnerley C E Primary School
Third Elinor Williams, Our Lady and St Oswald’s Catholic Primary School
The winning school was Moreton Hall, with Packwood Haugh coming 2nd and West Felton 3rd. Moreton Hall thus gets to display the painting of a young girl by Millicent Kaye at their school for the next year.
Oswestry Town Deputy Mayor Duncan Kerr helped to hand out the prizes and is shown with Millicent's painting.
Charley-May's school was delighted with her success as it was the first time that they had taken part!
