Unofficial Poppy Walk - May 2018

An annual circular walk in London to raise money for the British Legion Poppy appeal

The 10th Unofficial Poppy Walk, to raise money for the Royal British Legion, took place on 13th May 2018.

Despite the best efforts of Network Rail, 23 walkers took part and so far £241 has been raised (target is £300).

Five teams participated and the winners were Easy Saturday Skaters (on foot) who completed the route in just over three hours. This was surprising as they had 10 people in the team, which theoretically should have slowed the done.

The start and finish point for the walk was in Bunhill Fields which, unbeknown to us, was the haunt of a were-squirrel. This little monster appeared friendly at first and was briefly adopted as the mascot for the event. However, this was merely a ruse to get close whereupon he attacked, drawing blood from yours truly.

This was probably the last unofficial poppy walk, however the proper Poppy Walk takes place on Sunday 8th July, starting from Paternoster Square.
