The Seagate Rotary Sportsmen’s Dinner on Friday, held in the Fullerton Hub, was very successful both as a social evening and a fund raising event. The main speakers, Willie Young and Eric Davidson, were excellent, and a total of nearly £4,000 was raised for the club’s charity account.
The dinner was the result of a lot of hard work by Alex McConnell and his committee, and thanks are also due to all the local companies and individuals who contributed in many different ways. Next year the Sportsmen’s Dinner will be on Friday 28 February, with speakers Scott Glyn and Murdo McLeod.
The Seagate organised christmas trees at the Portal raised over £1100 and this will be split between the two nominated charities, Irvine Cancer Care and North Ayrshire Young Carers. Again thanks are due to all those who took part or sponsored trees.
This year the local heat of the Rotary Primary Schools Quiz will be on Friday 22 March, with the winners going on to the District finals in April.
