Bourton Meadow Academy (BMA) supports Buckingham’s Backpack project in aid of Mary’s Meals

More than 30 filled backpacks, ready for shipment to chronically poor children in countries such as Malawi, Liberia and Haiti have been provided by students from BMA, Buckingham.  Each backpack contains basic school items like pens, pencils, notebooks, erasers and sharpeners along with suitable clothing so that the children can attend school and gain a basic education providing an escape from poverty.

BMA has become another of the local schools participating in this fantastic project, which now includes Akeley Wood, Buckingham Primary, St James and St John and the George Grenville Academy.  Our thanks to the teachers, parents and in particular the students for taking part and helping to make a real difference to these overseas children from such poor families.

Buckingham Rotary President Janis Harding said “It is fantastic to see the engagement of the children in this recycling and sharing project.  The enthusiasm, support and understanding from such young people is overwhelming and is a great tribute to our local families and community”.
