“I didn’t know THAT!”
What’s a female giraffe called?
What country is Konya in?
Who played Lt. Cmdr. George Ericson in “The Cruel Sea”?
Ok – nothing there that you couldn’t Google, but apparently this is considered bad form if you’re a member of one of the competing teams in the Rotary District 1180 Knockout Quiz
On Tuesday 6th November 25 Rotarians, partners and friends from Rotary Club of Llandudno dined at the Cae Mor Hotel, next door to Llandudno’s Venue Cymru, prior to embarking on the second round of this prestigious event
Fresh from their recent Round 1 triumph against Rhos-on-Sea Rotary, the match-fit home team from Llandudno Rotary - Garth Mann, Steve Butler John New and Chris Drew - took on the assembled wisdom of Prestatyn Rotary’s finest, Alan Booth, John Carson, Alan Jones, and Huw Langridge
Ninety-six questions, later (yes, I know!) the Llandudno team emerged as narrow winners by 60 points to 56
Stentorian quizmaster Phil Jones read the rules and the questions with panache, Alan Guinn kept the score with impeccable accuracy – and a pen – and timekeeper Mike Dean was on hand to remind the teams, from time to time, that they actually either had to answer the question or say they didn’t know the answer sometime within the very generous 30 seconds limit
A good night of fellowship, fun, and self-improvement – well, of a sort!
Our thanks to the gallant and gracious Prestatyn team, helpers and supporters
We now await our next fixture early in 2019
